Mazda sales increase in March

Mazda sales increase in March

Japanese manufacturer Mazda saw its total sales increase last month by 7.6 % as the automaker finished the month with 7,030 vehicles sold.

In March 2014, Mazda sold 6,536 models which means that the Japanese manufacturer recorded 494 more sales last month than during the same period last year.

The Mazda5 was among the models that recorded the largest increase in sales. Indeed, 703 Mazda5 vehicles were sold last month compared to 349 in March 2014. In percentage terms, this represents a sales increase of 101.4 percent. The Mazda CX-5 compact sport utility vehicle also had a strong month of March with 2,065 registered models, an increase of 23.7 percent compared to March 2014.

The most popular Mazda model last month was again the Mazda3, with 3,700 units registered last month. Mazda3 sales therefore rose 1.0 percent compared to sales of the model in March 2014.

There were 266 Mazda6 models sold last month, and 140 Mazda2 vehicles. As for the sporty Mazda MX-5, there were 46 units sold last month compared to 38 in March 2014. Finally, Mazda sold 110 Mazda CX-9 SUVs in Canada last month.

Another sign that SKYACTIV technology remains popular with buyers, Mazda said that 86 percent of Mazda models sold last month were equipped with this technology that aims to improve fuel economy while preserving the performance and sportiness that is at the heart of the personality of Mazda models.

"The CX-5 is proving with regularly increasing sales that consumers are looking for sharply styled crossovers that can fit into any lifestyle, and provide great real-world fuel economy and dynamic handling," said Clark Colby, Director of Sales, Mazda Canada. "With the new CX-3 coming to showrooms soon, consumers will have another attractive and right-sized choice in a growing segment that's sure to follow in the footsteps of the successful CX-5."

The upward trend in sales at Mazda is expected to continue during the year, as Mazda is preparing to unveil two important models which will also certainly be popular with consumers.

Indeed, later this year we will see the arrival of the new Mazda CX-3, an agile and compact urban SUV that should prove equally fun to drive and comfortable. Later,  the new generation of the Mazda MX-5 will make its debut on the market.
