The 2016 Mazda3 is now even more popular thanks to the addition of SKYACTIV technology which makes as fuel-efficient as it is sporty and fun on a winding road.
Since it first launched in 2004, the Mazda3 has been one of Canada’s most popular vehicles, mainly because it is quite simply a heck of a lot of fun to drive. Thoroughly redesigned in 2014, the 2016 Mazda3 is now even more popular thanks to the addition of SKYACTIV technology which makes as fuel-efficient as it is sporty and fun on a winding road.
That explains why the Mazda3 has always been well-regarded by automotive journalists. Here are a few examples:
The Mazda 3 is a standout in terms of styling and design, and its long hood and ‘cab-back’ design really cast it in a different light compared to most other compact cars. A sweeping shoulder line slows gracefully along the body side, and a more slanted, fastback roofline on the hatchback ends in what we see as a somewhat softer, less distinctive rear-end treatment. At its best, this combination of the aggressive front grille, crisp edges, gentle curves, and hunkered-back cabin altogether makes the car look taut and sports-car influenced. At its worst, the Mazda 3 looks a little long-hooded—as if the hood of the Mazda 6 sedan had been grafted to the front of the smaller car.
Mazda has also made big strides in the 3's infotainment offerings. The Mazda Connect system uses a large, colorful, high-contrast touch-screen display that sits atop the dash (some might see it as looking like an aftermarket offering, but we like how it's up in the field of vision) – The Car Connection
The Mazda 3 proves that economical, fuel-efficient cars need not be dull to look at or to drive—and these are just a couple of the reasons we named it to our 10Best list for 2016. Available as a sedan or a four-door hatchback, a 155-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder is standard; a 184-hp 2.5-liter is optional. A six-speed manual is standard while a six-speed automatic is optional. As with any Mazda, the 3 is fun to drive, with peppy performance and alert handling – Car And Driver
Standing out in the world of compacts is no easy feat. The corner-cutting measures it takes to offer a product at a competitive price in this segment can quickly demote a car to drab background filler. Throw in the customer’s demand to “do it all,” from sporting fun to commuting practicality, and what you’re left with can often feel like too much of a compromise. That’s not the case with the Mazda3, which combines standout styling, top-notch safety, cutting-edge interior appointment and fantastic driving dynamics into one cohesive package, all for an aggressive price. For 2016, Mazda kept all those characteristics, but upped the ante with a variety of new features, both standard and optional - Top Speed
